It's November!
Hello all! Another ball season is upon us and it's time to start getting ready (does anyone still need to book a hair/nail/make-up appointment?!) The ball is such a fun and enjoyable event each year and the excitement that leads up to the big night is simply enthralling. Please feel free to share any tips or suggestions you may have for newcomers and/or your own ball experiences.

The countdown begins...
With October now in full swing the ball is on the horizon. Many have begun dress shopping and Pinterest surfing to find the perfect hair and makeup. Others are hitting the gym harder to look their best by Novemeber. And some, are just looking to find a baby sitter for the night. How do you prepare. Any great tips or info to share?

It's about that time
Many will be attending birthday balls this weekend. If you fit the bill, I hope it goes wonderfully and you have a fantastic time. For those who are attending next week you still have a little time to get excited and anxious. But it will be here before you know it. Please feel free to share any fun stories next week!

2-3 Week Mark
Depending on your ball date you are about 2-3 weeks out from the big day. How exciting! If you've been looking to drop a few lbs before the ball you might want to rev it up now! There's no need for extreme dieting or exercise but keeping healthy will make sure you look radiant on the night-of. So grab the yoga mat, bike, running shoes, or kayak and enjoy! And remember...we are all doing it with you.

It's getting close!
Depending on your ball date (Nov.1 to Nov.10 or later) it would be a good time to begin making any hair/make-up appointments you might need. Supposing you already have the dress, start looking at hair styles that complement the dress and make-up colors that would work well. By the time the appointments come around, you'll know exactly what you want and walk in stress free!

Annual Cost
I'm always interested to hear the cost of attending the ball in different areas. Many commands host fundraising events throughout the year to help lower costs for attendees. Although we are still about two months out, I was wondering what fundraising activities others are doing. Please share!

It's that time again!
Welcome, welcome..to the 74th annual Hunger Games!.. OH! Uh-no, no!, huh! Scratch that. Welcome, welcome to the 238th annual Marine Corps Birthday Ball. As we begin our prepping, I invite you to share your experiences, whether bad or good, with the rest of us. If you're a first timer I can only imagine the excitement (though I know I once was there myself) and invite you to ask any questions you might have. I will be adding updated ball information in the coming weeks and relevant tips. Please take a look around the blog and enjoy.

Ball Tip #1: Schedule your updo/make-up/nails appointment as soon as possible. This guarantees you an appointment on ball day (salons tend to get all booked up in the area around where the ball is being held). Plus, the stylists can give you a time estimate on how long everything will take so you have a good idea of when to go in. There is nothing worse than not being able to get an appointment or having to run to make it on time to the ball (or worse, sitting with your hair done for hours before the ball even starts).
